Burgundy Wine Tour - Day One

Arriving into Paris, you will be picked up from the airport or your hotel in central Paris before the 2 hour drive to Burgundy, one of the most famous wine regions in the world. Our first night will be spent in Chablis at the fabulous Hôtel du Vieux Moulin, a converted 13 century mill. The hotel is a subtle mix of traditional architecture and modern design. The place is a kind of well-kept secret for people who like to relax and discover Chablis, a place full of history and great wines. It offers classic ambience, modern comforts and friendly hospitality to spoil you as their special guest. Here you are welcome to rest until you are ready to enjoy welcome drinks with Nathalie and a beautiful evening meal prepared in the superb Au Fil Du Zinc restaurant.

Our first evening at the Hôtel du Vieux Moulin you will enjoy a wine tasting with Nathalie and their resident sommelier, where you will travel through the different varieties of the best wines of Burgundy. This will be a highlight of the tour as Nathalie has selected 8 wine appellations of Burgundy for you to sample. Over four evenings, you will taste the best wines from two appelations, matched exquisitely with a menu specially prepared by Nathalie and the head chef.

Burgundy Wine Tour - Day Two

After waking up to a gourmet breakfast on the terrace, we will gather at 10am for the first module of the wine education course. This will run until 12:30 after which we will enjoy lunch and a private tour of the amazing Domaine Laroche, it's 13th century wine press and ancient cellars.

The afternoon will be devoted to a very special tasting of various vintages in Chablis of all 7 Grand Cru Chablis hosted by Arnaud Valour. You will be surprised at the variety as we taste these superb wines. We will follow this with a tour through the actual Grand Cru vineyards where Nathalie will explain the impact of terroir and the wines we have just tasted.

After a full afternoon, we will return to our luxury hotel to relax and prepare for dinner in the evening at Au Fil Du Zinc restaurant.

Burgundy Wine Tour - Day Three

Today is something of a traveling day but you will have plenty of opportunity to relax and enjoy Burgundy in summer. In the morning you will complete module 2 of the wine course but not until you've enjoyed another gourmet breakfast and relaxed start to the day. We will check out of the Hôtel du Vieux Moulin and head south towards Dijon and the heart of Burgundy. Lunch will be on the wonderful terrace of Au Clos Napoléon which sits amongst the vineyard of Fixin. You'll enjoy some authentic cuisine of Bourgogne in this enchanting regional setting.

Late afternoon we check into the beautiful 16th century Château de Gilly where you can relax around the pool or on the tennis court, taking in the charm which is summer in Burgundy. There will be ample time to relax before it is time for our dinner.

Burgundy Wine Tour - Day Four

This morning you will enjoy a sublime breakfast in the 17th century Pierre de Nivelle room before undertaking module 3 of Nathalie's course. We are now in the heart of Burgundy and the choices are many for a relaxed and convivial lunch. No visit to Burgundy would be complete without a visit to the historic heart of wine making in the region - Château du Clos de Vougeot. It's a wonderful and intriguing visit that will live in your memory as you can imagine what has passed here as the centuries have rolled by. It's just a short drive the vineyard to the famous vineyard of Romanee Conti so we won't miss this opportunity to visit.

Another highlight is where we get to experience the true meaning of terroir and visiting the Domaine Viticole in Gevrey-Chambertin and it's unique winemaker, Isabelle Lippe. With Nathalie, Isabelle will host a private tour with through her personal vineyards which she tends herself and then enjoy a private tasting of her unique style of organic wines. It is here you will taste the highlights of the different terroir we just experienced.

Burgundy Wine Tour - Day Five

Today will be another travelling day as we head further south to the historic city of Beaune and the renowned Hôtel Le Cep which will be our base for the remainder of the tour. The hotel is famous throughout the world for those wishing to experience Burgundy and the club like atmosphere of our wonderful host and owner, Jean-Claude Bernard.

After you've enjoyed breakfast, it's a relatively short drive to Beaune and we will take our time stopping at any places of interest that take your fancy. We plan a relaxing day where you will check in at Le Cep and then be free to explore Beaune and find a cosy restaurant for lunch. If you are interested, later in the afternoon we will organise a private tasting with our host Maurice at the quirky La Maison de Maurice. We'll taste some of the more interesting and unique wines of Burgundy that only a local like Maurice can source. All this and just 50 metres walk from the the front door of Le Cep! The amazing Hospices de Beaune is also just minutes walk from our hotel and any visit to beaune would not be complete without taking an hour or two to visit this unique place of history.

As the evening begins, we'll enjoy an aperitif with our host Jean-Claude who has hosted a roll call of dignitaries and interesting people over the years. A lovely entree to what will be a wonderful dining experience in the Michelin star restaurant Loiseau des Vignes, literally next door to Le Cep.

Burgundy Wine Tour - Day Six

After a beautiful breakfast at Hôtel Le Cep, we will complete the fourth module of the wine education course in the morning. After you have had the opportunity to further explore Beaune and enjoy lunch, we will visit two domaines at opposite ends of the spectrum. The famous Château de Pommard and the lessor known Domaine de Villaine, both present intriguing reasons to visit, explore and taste their wines. Château de Pommard is an icon of Bourgogne and will be priveledged to enjoy a private tour and tasting of a selection of their more prestigious wines. Visiting Domaine de Villaine will an opportunity to meet the passionate organic wine maker Pierre de Benoit, nephew of the renowned Romanee Conti winemaker Aubert de Villaine. Pierre will guide us through the vineyard and you will even have the opportunity to tour the cellar, listen to his wine making philosophy, tasting this years vintage direct from the oak barrels.

A very special day in Burgundy with a taste of centuries old traditions and the future of wine making too.

Burgundy Wine Tour - Day Seven

The final day of our tour and the final module in Nathalie's wine education course. We will celebrate in the best way possible with a degustation lunch with a specially prepared food and matching wine pairing menu.
